An Article About Fear
There’s so many things to be fearful of, but we can overcome each one.
“Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist.” — Will Smith
Ladies and gentlemen,
Fear is a natural and common emotion that we all experience at some point in our lives. It is a feeling that can be helpful at times, as it helps us to stay safe in dangerous situations. However, when fear becomes excessive, it can hold us back and prevent us from achieving our goals and dreams.
I know this first hand because Im someone who has many fears and I’m still learning to become fearless. It reminds me of a practice, something you get better at like; yoga, meditation, drawing, sewing, etc..
Today, I would like to talk to you about the importance of overcoming fear and how it can lead to a more fulfilling life. Overcoming fear is not an easy task, but it is one that can be achieved with determination, patience, and practice.
A good example of fear is public speaking. Many people fear speaking in front of large crowds, but to modernize the concept, a better example is content creation. Several people have the desire of becoming a Youtuber, Instagram creator, or TikTok famous. Yet, they’re to scared to create content because they fear putting themselves out there.
This is a common fear experienced by many people, and it is often rooted in a fear of being judged or criticized by others. Individuals who fear public speaking may experience physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, and increased heart rate when faced with the prospect of speaking in front of a group. This fear can be debilitating and can prevent individuals from pursuing opportunities for public speaking, such as giving presentations or speaking at conferences, even if these opportunities could be beneficial to their personal or professional growth.
“Don’t be afraid of your fears. They’re not there to scare you. They’re there to let you know that something is worth it.” — C. JoyBell C.
Get over yourself
The first step to overcoming fear is to identify the source of it. What is causing you to feel afraid? Is it a fear of failure, rejection, or the unknown? Once you have identified the source of your fear, you can begin to work on addressing it.
One way to overcome fear is to face it head-on. This means putting yourself in situations that make you uncomfortable, but in a controlled and safe way. For example, if you are afraid of public speaking, start by speaking in front of a small group of people that you feel comfortable with, and gradually work your way up to larger audiences. If you are afraid of putting out your content, start by creating things you are comfortable with and proud of.
Another way to overcome fear is to reframe your thinking. Instead of focusing on the negative outcomes that could result from a particular situation, try to focus on the positive outcomes. For example, if you are afraid of starting your own business because you fear failure, reframe your thinking by focusing on the potential success and the opportunities that could arise.
It is also important to remember that overcoming fear is a process, and it takes time. You may experience setbacks along the way, but it is important to keep pushing forward and not give up. Practice self-compassion and remind yourself that everyone experiences fear at some point in their lives.
