Cherish the Day

Notice the little things that make you happy.

As days go on, it’s hard to find the little things to appreciate although they’re right in front of you. This all depends on how you look at things. Are you a “glass half full” kind of person? Or do you tend to go through life seeing things as “glass half empty”?

If you’re anything like me, you can be both depending on the day you ask me. Naturally, I look at the positive side of things. Whenever things go wrong I tend to get upset at first and then I remember that it’s not the end of the world and that’s my favorite part.

My list seems so simple when I look at it from a bird’s eye view, but I guess I’m becoming a lot more appreciative of the little things in my day that slowly make me a better person. That’s my current obsession, wanting to be better so everything I do is with intention.

Reading

Reading is something that I implement in my lifestyle in different ways, for example, sometimes I will read my current book, and other times I will read articles on medium. My favorite part about reading is the fact that it enhances my level of awareness and communication. Beyond that, you can use your analytical abilities, stimulate memories, and even broaden your imagination by reading words off of a page. It’s like being in an alternate universe that unintentionally makes you a better person. I talk about reading in almost all of my articles because it’s fundamental and it’s a major part of my lifestyle that I am in love with.

Waking Up

I love waking up in the morning. For some reason, I’m always grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to live another day, whether I want to or not. I know that sounded kind of dark, but I’m human and sometimes I wake up on the wrong side too, some days I don’t feel like doing life. The days where I don’t want to do life are the days I make sure I keep going. People always talk about discipline and I think true discipline is when you’re able to get up and move along even when you’re not in the best spirits. I have different routines; I have one for the days when I have high energy and a separate system for when my energy is shallow. I noticed that trying to carry on with my routine when I’m not feeling it makes it harder to achieve my everyday tasks.

A quote by Benjamin Franklin

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

Morning Miles

Running at least one mile every day is a crucial part of my daily routine. I look forward to running because I know it’s good for me. I always make sure to have a cup of tea waiting on me afterward with my breakfast. Giving myself something to look forward to in the morning is a trick that helps me get up and get active. Lately, I have been running at least two miles per day and that feels great to say. Sometimes I don’t run the whole time, switching it up to a leisure walk, and even trading my run for a yoga session still makes me feel good. I appreciate going the extra mile. Waking up at 6 am to go for a run/walk makes me feel like I’m elevating my lifestyle because not everyone can keep that motivation. My morning miles is a task that makes me happy every day.

Journaling

I know I’m a writer, but sometimes the toughest task for me is writing. I am a copywriter at my day job so when it comes to my writing projects, I feel like it’s hard for me to get back on track. Journaling is an activity that I can do every day because I’m able to dump all of my thoughts, feelings, emotions, and ideas onto a page that only I will see, EVER. I can map out my introspections from the day or the night. There are many benefits to journaling, I talk briefly about journaling in my article about how you can live in the present.

Working my day job

Working is subjective, what one may consider “work” another person may not. I appreciate working, and by this, I mean working my day job. I never really had the desire of being an entrepreneur growing up. I didn’t want to run my own business and brand until I got to college. However, I’m still so appreciative to have somewhere to work, especially in this economy. Additionally, I like my job which is rare these days, so working is something I look forward to. Even though there are things that I don’t like about the job, I understand that there will be bad that comes with the good.

Catching the sunrise or sunset

I’m a morning person and one of my favorite things is catching the sunrise in the morning. There’s something so beautiful about seeing the day break. It makes me feel so optimistic about my day and productivity. If it doesn’t do anything else, it makes me so grateful to be alive, to have the ability to see the sun rise again. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing a stunning sunrise or even a breathtaking horizon?

In Conclusion

The intention behind this article is to remind my readers that it’s crucial to romanticize the details of our everyday lives. Life is too beautiful to overlook all of the moments whether they are big events or everyday tasks. A huge part of my moral value is being thankful for life in all aspects and being alive every day.

I hope to bring inspiration to anyone reading this piece. It’s so beautiful to breathe fresh air and live life to the fullest, every single day.

Always,

Sunny💛
