Being eco-friendly becomes a part of who you are and how you live. Eco is an abbreviation for ecology, which defines the system of relationships between all living things and their environment. Friendly implies beneficial and not harmful. The term “eco-friendly” indicates a positive effect on living things. Once you consciously start thinking about ways to be more environmentally friendly, you naturally develop an ethical mindset.

A little bit goes a long way. There are plenty of different ways to contribute to sustainability. Even if you don’t think it’s helping, it is simple things like turning off the water when you brush your teeth, unplugging unused appliances, and bringing your tote to the store that contributes to sustainable living. Your first thought might be, “how does it help?” Right? It relates to the idea of less consumption. To make sure we create not so much trash because it goes back into the earth, but more on that another day. Sustainability may seem complex but protecting the planet we live on looks different to everybody.

Of course, I had to include additional ways to be more eco-friendly because I want society to be more aware of the environment.

  1. Recycle: Many people don’t recycle because they don’t know how, but I wrote an article on recycling because I know it gets a little complicated. If you live in a place where recycling isn’t always accessible, you can contribute to sustainability in other ways.
  2. Buy second hand: it’s crucial to buy second hand because it helps ensure valuables don’t go to waste (trash). You can thrift and use apps like OfferUp & Facebook Marketplace. If you like designer items, you might like websites like The RealReal or Tradesy. Supporting the earth through sustainable fashion is excellent also.
  3. Simple things to help are dryer balls for laundry, rechargeable batteries for specific devices, reusable water bottles (less plastic), and reusable kitchen towels.

This article intends to remind my lovely readers that Earth Day is every day, and no matter how big or small the act may be, it is still a step to creating a better place to live. Practicing environmentalism also helps you live more ethically.

The simple definition of ethics is the discipline of knowing what is morally good and evil or what is right and wrong.

Made by Me ❤

To contribute to Earth Day, I HAND MADE tote bags that are fit for a trip to the market, a day at the park, or even a study session at the library. I was so happy when I found this fabric in a local fabric store. I automatically knew it’d be a groovy tote.

My favorite thing about tote bags is going to any store or local market and not worrying about bags.

To wrap all of this up, I’ll say that taking care of our planet doesn’t have to be so cringe. There are simple things that still matter and ways to make sustainability fit into your lifestyle. I hope you were able to learn something more about ethical living.

Always,

Sunny
