Getting back in the Groove
Preparing for the new year.
Getting your life back on track can be a challenge coming to the end of the year or at the start of a new one. It’s no secret that 2020 hit us all like a brick, so now we’re looking for ways to find ourselves again, and that’s okay. Remember that everyone falls apart sometimes, and it looks different for each person.
In this article, I want to talk about tips we can use to refocus ourselves and create healthier habits for the new year. It’s a known fact that you MUST start your “New Years resolutions” a decent time before the new year so you can stick to your goals.
- Clean Your Room or Work Space
Cleaning your space can help your mind give you a better idea of what is next. I know for me, it’s hard for me to have a complete thought while being in a very cluttered space. The first step to getting your life together will forever be to clean your room. Cleaning in itself can sometimes be very therapeutic.
2. Re-organize Your Closet
I know this can always wait, and if you’re good at cleaning, you know this can get done when you’re cleaning your room, but moving around things in your closet feels like a refreshment. When changing your wardrobe for the season or in general, you get to get rid of many things you don’t wear anymore. Doing this can help you feel lighter. Don’t forget that when getting rid of your clothes, make sure you thrift them, give them to a shelter, or sell them online. So many people are willing to buy clothes that have previously been worn.
3. Write Out Your Goals
It is imperative to remind yourself why you’re working so hard. Writing out your goals every few weeks can help keep focus and be a constant reminder of where you’re going and what the next steps are. I’ve come to realize that I am a person who needs continual reminding of what I need to accomplish to stick to my vision. Writing down your goals can be more helpful than it seems. There should always be an idea of what you want for yourself.
4. Sort Your Finances
No one ever wants to hear this part because knowing your financial state can be a tough pill to swallow, but understanding where you are can be a massive step towards clearing the dark cloud over your head. It will be hard at first, but when you figure out what bills are due, what’s coming up, and even the things you want. This goes for businesses too, it is important to keep track of your money flow — in business and in life.
5. MAKE A PLAN
Making a plan can sometimes fall under the category of having goals, but having a plan is way more important than having dreams. I say this because even if you have goals, you still need a PLAN to execute those ideas. Goals are pointless when you don’t have a PLAN to follow suit.
Plan your work and work your plan.
I wrote this article because lately I’ve been feeling lost in many aspects of my life. Slowly I am beginning to feel better, but this (seasonal) depressive state made me realize that I needed to do something to recenter myself. I’m not saying these tips will clean your entire life up, but they helped me clear my head and screw it on correctly. My goal is to continue to uplift one another, mentally and environmentally.
Always,
Sunny🌻
