There’s Only one Rule in Fashion: RECYCLE YOUR CLOTHES

To start, I would like to put extreme emphasis on how important it is to recycle your clothes. There are a few benefits to recycling your clothes that the everyday person usually is not aware of.

What is recycling clothes & How do I do it?

Recycling clothes means giving clothes in good condition to the next person. Even if it isn’t someone you know directly, there are plenty of women’s/mens shelters that will gladly accept them. It is gratifying to donate to people who need them. Another choice is to resell clothes to local thrift stores and consignment shops. Reselling clothes is one that’s very popular and convenient when you need an extra dollar in your pocket. I know a lot of people have started selling their clothes on social media to their followers, which I have been thinking about doing myself. When I think of recycling clothes, I relate it to rearranging your closet every once in a while, or with the season changes.

Why is recycling clothes so important?

Reusing clothes keeps them in rotation rather than wasting material because the cloths that aren’t used go into landfill. This could be dangerous for the environment because it takes up so much space and we all know we need to be making small steps to helping our planet stay green. Recycling avoids polluting and energy intensive processes to make clothing items from fresh materials. So, recycling your clothes is a simple, yet helpful act that can be a contribution to #SaveTheEarth.

Last year, I started to get into minimalism and learning the value of not carrying so much in your life. Since I’m only 23, I want to be able to move as I please, so having plenty of things to take with me doesn’t necissarily align with my vision. I still understand everyone has different values though.

Then I discovered the art in keeping my closet minimal. When you have minimalistic values; you own/keep very few things, but those items hold a lot of value in your life. My motive during the process of getting rid of my clothes was — if it isn’t my favorite item of clothing, then it it can go. The process really helped me clean up my closet and I’m still letting go of pieces at that.

I made sure I put together some visuals for clothing items I have recycled (wore plenty of times, in multiple ways). These items include: Black turtle neck, tan cargo pants, and my white crop top. All of these are great material and have lasted me a while.
